Brandon Murray

I completed my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Binghamton University in May of 2016. Then I interned at NASA Langley in the Summer of 2016, and I've been at RPI since the Fall of 2016. My current research is in heat transfer and fluid mechanics with emphasis on energy efficiency and renewable energy. I enjoy rowing, hiking, and backpacking.

Greg Parisi

I received my B.S. in biochemistry at Ramapo College of New Jersey, and M.S. in chemistry at Seton Hall University. Currently, my research is in the study of thermal management relating to thin-film evaporation, specifically in the use of porous materials. I am passionate about snowboarding, scuba diving, and traveling.

Jin Qi

I received my undergraduate degree from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, and master's degree from Tongji University, both majoring in Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning. My current research focuses on flow boiling, specifically in the dynamic control of phase change in microchannels.

Rich Sadlon

I received my B.S. in Physics from the University of Connecticut in May of 2019. I began studying Mechanical Engineering at RPI in the Fall of 2019. My current research is in the study of adsorption and condensation with applications in power plants and water harvesting. I also love music and play both tenor saxophone and bass guitar in bands in the area.

Toochukwu Aka

I completed my bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nigeria. I joined RPI in the fall of 2018 and my current research is in heat transfer and fluid mechanics with emphasis on control of flow instabilities in micro channels. I also love soccer, table tennis and cooking.

Xuanjie Wang

I received my B.Eng. in Energy, Power System and Automation from Xi’an Jiaotong University and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). My research interests include heat transfer, phase change material, thermoelectric cooling and thermal switch.

Xue Li

I received my bachelor’s degree at the Hebei University of Technology and a master’s degree at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. My current research focuses on addressing heat transfer challenges in additive manufacturing.

Undergraduate Students

Advaith Narayan

I am an undergraduate student at RPI, pursuing a major in Mechanical Engineering. My research in the Energy Lab focuses on multiphase flow and heat transfer

Hengyuan Yang

I am an undergraduate student at RPI pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. My research in the lab currently focuses on solar-thermal energy conversion using nanostructured materials.

Kathleen Zheng

I am an undergraduate student at RPI pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. My current research focuses on solar-thermal energy conversion and thin-film evaporation.

Matthew Fox

I am an undergraduate student at RPI studying for a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. My current research at EnergyLab focuses on measuring the evaporation rate of liquids using a Quartz Crystal Microbalance. Outside of the lab, I am an avid runner and I compete on the RPI Ballroom Dance team.

Melissa Shuey

I am an undergraduate student at RPI pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Energy Systems. I have previously worked in the Naval Research Lab in Washington, D.C. where I studied the deposition and persistence chemicals in fingerprints. My current research is on characterizing phase-change using piezoelectric sensors.

Christina Vasil

I received my undergraduate degree from RPI in Mechanical Engineering with a minors in Electrical Engineering and Economics. My research interests involve the study of various coatings on aluminum and aluminum alloys. These coatings will be applied on surfaces with micro-, and nano-structures to test their effect on liquid-vapor phase-change. Outside of school, you can find me reading science books and philosophical classics. I also love drawing, cooking, and hiking!

Christina graduated from RPI with MS in Mechanical Engineering in May 2017. She joined GE.

Mariana Basilio

I received my B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  My research involves the development of ultrasensitive gravimetric measurement techniques for characterization of sorption dynamics.

Mariana graduated from RPI with M.Eng in Mechanical Engineering in December 2017.

Thomas Fajardo

I received my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. My current research includes the design and synthesis of selective absorber surfaces for energy harvesting and conversion applications.

Thomas graduated from RPI with M.Eng in Mechanical Engineering in May 2017.
